Its colour changes. The petals become fragile, the edges fold inward, and what was once immediate becomes something quieter. The flower has not lost its meaning. Time has simply changed the way we see it.

Wabi Sabi: Ash of Roses begins with that thought.

The original Wabi Sabi explored beauty through imperfection. Ash of Roses returns to the idea from another direction, without attempting to recreate the first fragrance. It considers what remains after beauty has been touched by time.

Imagine a rose pressed between the pages of an old book. The paper has absorbed its shape. Its colour has deepened. Years later, the flower remains, carrying a memory of the moment it was placed there.

That is the emotional setting of this second chapter.

Saffron, rose and jasmine form its floral warmth, while oud, sandalwood, myrrh, ambergris and musk suggest something deeper and more settled.

Ash of Roses does not ask that a beautiful thing remain unchanged.

It asks whether change can become part of its beauty.
