THE FRAGRANCE

The Scent

A Window in Manhattan opens bright and polished, with neroli, bergamot and mandarin giving the fragrance a clear citrus lift. Saffron, musk and vetiver then pull it closer to the skin, adding warmth, dryness and texture. The drydown turns softer and deeper through myrrh, vanilla, tonka bean, sandalwood and patchouli. The mood is intimate and urban: fresh enough to feel open, warm enough for the hours after dark.

THE STORY

The Hour Behind the Glass

There is a side of New York that rarely becomes the photograph.

It exists several floors above the street, behind apartment doors, when the city is still moving but the room around you has begun to quiet. Daylight is leaving the buildings. A few windows across the way are already lit. Cool air finds its way inside.

A Window in Manhattan was imagined from that private point of view. The name is less about looking out at a skyline and more about the distance between the public city and one personal room within it.

At 18:43, the moment is ordinary enough to disappear. That is precisely what makes it worth recording. One room. One evening. A city continuing beyond the glass.

As part of the City Archives Collection, the fragrance treats Manhattan as something remembered through atmosphere rather than spectacle. It holds onto the hour when brightness begins to soften, the room grows warmer, and a vast city briefly feels close enough to belong to you.

ON SKIN

How It Develops

01Opening

The opening feels clear and luminous, with neroli, bergamot and mandarin creating a polished citrus brightness. Floral freshness and gentle bitterness keep the start from becoming overly sweet, while mandarin brings a softer edge. The overall effect is open and inviting, with warmth already beginning to sit beneath the citrus.

02Heart

As the brightness settles, the fragrance becomes warmer and more intimate. Saffron adds a dry, softly spiced character, while musk smooths the transition and vetiver gives the heart structure. The contrast between freshness and warmth remains present, but the composition begins to feel closer to the skin and more textured.

03Drydown

The drydown moves toward resin, woods and restrained sweetness. Myrrh adds depth, vanilla and tonka bean soften the edges, and sandalwood with patchouli gives the finish a grounded woody character. The final impression is warmer than the opening, but it retains enough dryness and structure to avoid feeling overly dense.

The collection

Part of the City Archives

A Window in Manhattan belongs to the City Archives Collection and approaches place through one specific, private moment rather than a familiar city landmark. Manhattan is observed at 18:43, when the remaining daylight begins to give way to warmer interiors and the movement outside feels slightly more distant.

Its place within the collection is defined by that contrast: the scale of New York against the intimacy of one room. The fragrance records the city through atmosphere, light and the shift between outside and inside, giving Manhattan a quieter presence than its public image usually allows.
